Monument to Fallen Soldiers

Monument to Fallen Soldiers

The monument was inspired by photographs form the Carpathian battlegrounds. The sculptor took the original study of soldiers in Austrian uniforms created during the war, entitled Funeral in the Carpathians, and transformed it into the Monument to Fallen Soldiers. It was created for Předměřice nad Jizerou and Místek. Jan Štursa also promised this monument to his home town, but it never came to be during his lifetime. After Štursa´s death, it was created at the school for sculpture and masonry in Hořice, and unveiled here on October 28, 1932.
