European Watershed

European Watershed

The Žďár Hills are the source of several of our important rivers. The European Watershed runs along the ridges of the Žďár Hills dividing the North and BlackSeas basins. The northeastern part (around 54 %) drains to the North Sea via the rivers Chrudimka, Sázava and Doubrava, and the southeastern part (around 46 %) drains to the Black Sea via the rivers Svratka and Oslava. The locality U sražené vody, lying on the European Watershed near Žákova hora Hill, links the waters of both drainage areas via a man-made ditch.
